Welcome to the homepage of our Icelandic horse farm Blumencron.

Situated close to Hamburg in northern Germany this farm was started in 2005 by the family Müller von Blumencron.

Besides horse pension, teaching and horse training we also breed Icelandic horses. With several mares (such as IS1990286854 - Spes frá Skammbeinsstöðum 1 and DE2005284349 - Lýdía von Birkenlund) we make pairings with different stallions like Þótti frá Hólum, Álfasteinn frá Selfossi,  Glaður frá Hólabaki, Hlynur frá Kjarnholtum I and many more. Our fist offspring is already successful in competing. Tilberi von Blumencron won different competitions in Tölt and Fourgait. Grimur von Blumencron is now five years old and he will also become a very interesting competition horse.

Our horsefarm is a family business. The siblings Oliver, Daniel and Marina all work with horses, as a horseshoemaker or as trainer and teacher. Christine, the mother, supports the project with her knowledge in accupunkture and veterinary science. She is responsible for the horeses health and wellfare.

We take care for about 50 horses in a very beautiful surrounding. The grassland is situated directly besides the stables. We have an oval track (200 m), an enclosed manege (40 m x 20 m) and an idyllic riding area that invites for both short and long trips with the horse.

Some parts of the old building ensemble of the „Neue Mühle“ now the Icelandic horsefarm Blumencron, are more than 200 years old. It is only 25 years ago that the old millhouse standing beside the small stream Mühlenbek was still grinding cereals. Unfortunately for many years no one cared for the interesting history of the building ensemble. The millhouse, a bakehouse, an old shed, a pigsty and the main residential building fall victim to wind and weather, woodworms and rotting. When we bought the “New Mill” in 2005 branches had already destroyed some parts of the roofs, the fundaments were wet and parts of the old framework were rotten. However a very exciting time started – characterized by hard work on restoration and renewal in the beginning. Now after five years the most important preventive measures are taken and a very idyllic place in the nature has now become the home of many horese and the place where many people spend their time on the weekends.
